STUDIO 3 - WEEK 13 (FINAL WEEK)

On this final week I will be talking briefly about how my portfolio presentation went, what happened on our Monday class and also a self-reflection piece to reflect how I did on this trimester.

I presented my portfolio and I wasn't really worried thanks to our studio units because they require us to present a portfolio on all 3 units which really helps students to know the mistakes and how to do better because this will definitely be attached to our careers later on, I showed my showreel then my video works which is a section that show my projects separately and each have their own description of what the project about, what was my position and how I did. Also my production cv and my work cv and a photography gallery that show a variety of photography work, some were for work while some were experimental to show the audience how flexible I can be with my photography. Regarding the feedback from my lecturer he told me to focus on one thing or one role at a time and I totally agree because I don't want to confuse anybody who's checking out my portfolio or anyone I will be working with so I will definitely try to take one job at a time.

As for our Monday class, it was still a part of the acting workshop and we've been given a script to read from and practice, but only a scene from a classic film ''the Graduate'' and we've been put into two groups and each group have to pick two actors for the scene since it's a scene between a costumer and a hotel clerk and also a director to direct his actors.
I took the role of the costumer straight ahead because I kept imagining the role itself while reading from the script and it was a nice experience, I've tried different types of acting like at first I was cold, for the 2nd try I was nervous and eventually horrified and the body language and movement itself can give the audience different ideas on how this scene will end up or what might happen and that's the beauty of it. so in conclusion our lecturer told us not to focus on the lines so much but the body movement because it gives out a meaning as well and it's a part of delivering the message / line.

We re-acted a scene from the film ''The Graduate'' when Ben met with the hotel clerk:

Having these blogs was a great idea to go through everything we've done this trimester, I kept writing my blogs on each week especially the moment something happens because I can write it in detail and deliver it better to my readers.

During this trimester, at first I thought it was going to be a one film project where everybody will take a role and produce one big film but instead there was two groups and each group have to deliver a film, I'm happy I had the confidence to present a story to the class and actually go for the role of a writer but then changes happen and our director was also the writer so I helped him with the character breakdown of his story, I took the role of a prop master and I'm happy I did so because I had previous experience where I had to research and work under that role.

Things didn't go so well for the film's production as we lost our producer and 1st AD so we all had to help and take a task and finish it as soon as possible, at first our team wasn't too sure but I've gathered up with my art director and DOP and requested to get the equipment list done and finishing the EP schedule then to lock locations and actors, we've locked half of the actors and locations and still needed more but unfortunately we didn't get it all done on time, we should've taken more action instead of visiting one location a day, we could've visited at least 3 locations a day.

But this was a good impactful experience for me because I've been there when projects got cancelled or don't go the way we want them to end up like, but there's always a way, you can either fix up the project or do another project instead, I've been with filmmaker friends and I've seen their projects getting cancelled but instead of losing all hope or thinking of never working on anything else again try to go and look for solutions or replacements, you'll always find a better result if you dig deeper. So the moral of the story is to keep taking chances and keep looking and work hard because this is all a part of the journey.
