STUDIO 3 - WEEK 11

This week is week 11 so we're pretty much 2 more weeks away from the end of this trimester, I've learned a number of new things while facing a number of new experiences.

For this week we had a class with Fred where he discussed the other group's film further more and then showed us a few different scenes from movies of dialogues and characters, from movies such as Pulp fiction to Casino to Goodfellas and how they all have a one-shot scene showing the atmosphere, the characters having dialogues and what kind of an action will happen or is happening, but also I've wanted to use more of the time to look for a graphic designer to help me with the 2 posters I will have to submit, one is for our cancelled film project and the other one will be for the other group's project, of course I had the sketches and designs in my hand trying to collaborate with someone but most of them were busy which is understandable since they have final submissions and works to do while the others said they will ''try'' for the next day I still kept making calls and asking different people for help or contacts and they did have contacts but none of them is free to help so I will definitely do a suggestion my friend suggested to me which is sending a viral college email to every student who might be able to help.

If I ever find anybody of course I will return the favor by providing them with my film abilities and that include editing a project or filming it for them, but if I don't I will try to find a solution, on the other hand I'm spending my week editing and polishing the trailer for the other group's film which is pretty interesting because it can take so many different turns but I already picked one and it is helping with the flow of the trailer.

I also received behind the scenes footage and the audio files to make a special behind the scenes video, that gives an explanation of the project itself, the process and the making but also to give an overview of the crew and which roles did they take on, how did their roles impact the film, which kind of challenges they had to face and how did they solve them together.

An update regarding the poster designs, I sent a message to my college asking to send a message to all graphic design students because I really do believe that students from any level are more than capable to create something beautiful, there's no limit to their skills so I've asked for my message to reach every graphic design student from every trimester. I've waited for a day and then I received an email from a very kind graphic design student who wanted to collaborate, I had to meet her the next day to introduce myself, the projects that I need posters of and how I want the posters to be like and it went pretty well.

Since I met with the graphic design student very early at college because I had a casting to attend to, she decided to stay at college for a number of hours to work on the posters, she already had notes of what I wanted to see in the poster so she had a good idea of what she was working on which really helped the process of making the posters.

Since ''Timepiece'' was a cancelled product we didn't have any shots from the film or of the film meaning we had to look for an alternative option, the option I've suggested didn't work out well so she decided to make a big fix up that helped make a better poster which I was very happy about, I've also suggested the font to her but it didn't seem that fitting, later she found a better smoother font that looked better on the poster, also she had to make a small touch up on the pocket watch that I've wanted since the beginning and it looked so good after she designed it and edited it.

As for ''Crimson Funeral'' we already had a whole film to choose a shot from and then turn it into a poster, there was so many good shots from the film and many to choose from but I've decided to pick a shot of the hitman giving his back to the camera, I've sent the shot to the graphic design student asking her to put that into the poster but of course not to treat it as a picture on a poster but make a design out of it.

We've discussed a few ideas at the beginning when we met and she suggested some very good fix-ups for the ''Crimson Funeral'' poster such as the light effect, the font and how it would look like and finally the designing of the object which was the hitman, she decided to draw him in thin white lines instead of using bolder lines which made the poster look harder to look at and the light effects she added we're very artistic, we had a different idea of the lights in mind but her method worked and finally the font was supposed to be a dark colored thin font but she made some changes and made it more nicer to add to the poster.

Overall this week have worked nicely because I'm already done with my alternative assessments but except for the behind the scenes video which I'm currently editing and hoping to get it done during this weekend and I'm very happy with what have been produced so far and I'm very thankful for the help of the design student.

Here you will see a before and after pictures of the shot of the hitman:
