STUDIO 3 - WEEK 3
For the 3rd week we took 1 class on Sunday and 2 on Monday:
For the Sunday class we pitched which roles we want or thinking of and we finalized our roles so we could start researching and have an idea what to do next, I pitched to either be the writer or a co producer alongside helping in the Art department, Our producer will already be working with the 1st AD and the Director of the film will be writing the film so I had a discussion with the group and I picked to be the Prop master in the art department since the art department have only 1 person and in the form it clearly states there should be 2 people working in the art department because it will be a lot of work just for 1 person to handle such as the setting of the place, the props and finally the wardrobes and the make-up, as a matter of fact we are in talks to hire a make up artist to help out with the mother's make-up, the father's fake bruises and finally Iblis' make-up.
Since our roles have been finalized we are required to present our story by next week but it will be a professional visual presentation of what can be added or done in the film through every member and how their role will contribute to the film.
For the Monday class first we took our Design camp and in that time we took our first learning outcome and it was to write an informal report of the definition of compositing and its relationship within the film industry, we had to write it and submit it at class and we were only given 3 hours or less to do so but right after submitting the report we went to Cinema Akil to watch a feature documentary ''Half the Picture'' By Amy Adrion, regarding Female directors in Hollywood and why not? Women's day was around the corner, we also had the filmmaker herself in presence giving a Q&A after the film, it was a very rewarding experience especially when the filmmaker said to not just depend on major studios to make your projects happen but if all odds are against you, just do it yourself! I've seen a lot of familiar female directors being interviewed within the documentary but I have never gone deeper into their lives, knowing the challenges and the creative differences they've faced while moving to Hollywood to simply create the best they can show.
On Wednesday we've met with our group and we discussed our roles further and what will happen on this weekend, everyone will be working on their slide(s) for the upcoming presentation on Sunday, I've already fleshed out the script with the Art director in my department and we built the presentation slides so all can be ready for this Sunday, providing visual examples and initial ideas for some wardrobes, props and sets.
